   Size

Colonies form encrusting mat of small ovoid blobs, usually 5 to 10 cm, with polyps (8 to 10 mm) completely buried in a thick coenenchyme when retracted. The polyps can protrude 1 cm beyond the colony surface and extend tentacles up to 6 to 10 mm long when open (Burnett, et. al, 1994).
